The AXIS-LR series of long range laser sensors allows to measure the distance or position of an object in a very reliable way, without contact and without wear and tear, thanks to the triangulation principle.

The sensor emits a laser beam which is reflected by the target. The light reflected through a lens will then hit a highly sensitive CMOS sensor at a defined angle. A change in the distance to the measurement object will result in a change of angle and thus a shift of the light spot on the CMOS sensor. The distance to the measurement object can then be calculated.

Thanks to an integrated controller, the sensor automatically adapts to different materials. Stable measurements on difficult or changing surfaces are thus possible. Depending on the requirements, the AXIS series sensors are available in different sizes and ranges.
